Why You Should Visit a CEREC Dentist After an Accident
As a CEREC dentist, we offer our patients a better alternative when it comes to restoring damaged teeth. While providing regular preventative care, we have the opportunity to discuss oral health and topics like restorations with our patients. One thing that is clear is how few people ever consider that their teeth might one day become damaged. For those having their teeth cleaned regularly, this seems even less likely given their focus on oral health. We would agree that if your teeth are clean and healthy, they are at a decreased risk of becoming damaged. However, statistically speaking, there is a high likelihood that each person will be involved in some type of accident and the only question is whether or not teeth will be damaged in the process.
For example –
One in three adults over the age of 65 are in a slip and fall accident every year, many of these happen at home. Adults of all ages are likely victims of a slip and fall with more than 9 million people visiting the emergency room, as a result, every single year. These accidents can happen virtually anywhere – home, work, school, grocery shopping, etc.
Over 5 million children will become injured while playing sports this year and that does not even consider the adults that play sports. While tooth injuries can be prevented by wearing a mouthguard, most adults do not wear any protective gear when playing casual games with friends.
There will be around 5.4 million car wrecks this year, many of which will result in a face or mouth injury. As a CEREC dentist, we can treat teeth that have been damaged in an accident and do so quickly. If you are ever in an accident and damage a tooth, it is important that you call our office instead of heading straight to the emergency room at the local hospital. If you have injured your physical body, this is where you need to go. However, if your primary injury is to a tooth, the ER doctors will not be able to solve the problem. This is not because they do not wish to help you but simply because they are not trained to do so. Visiting the ER will, therefore, be a waste of your time and money. When you visit our dental office, we can examine your mouth, take x-rays and determine the full extent of the damage before coming up with a treatment plan. As a CEREC dentist, we are truly the best type of dentist to visit for urgent care and here's why –
CEREC has revolutionized how we perform restorations, making it possible to complete a restoration in one day, rather than over the course of several weeks. When using this technology, we eliminate the longest step in the process – the creation of restorations in a dental lab. Traditionally, an impression would be made of your mouth and measurements taken of your teeth so that the lab could create a dental crown. This could take weeks. Now, we take a digital image and upload it to our software that creates a blueprint for your new crown. This data is sent to our milling machine so that your crown can be created while we prepare your tooth. As a result, you can walk in with a cracked or chipped tooth and leave with one that looks amazing.
